I borrowed this idea from the 1989 film. I suspect his former boss had to have been a real shit-heel to have contributed to this insanity. That or Jack Napier was a real butthurt wuss. Anyway, the Joker comes back to seek revenge the boss-man.
I also figured the Dark Knight line could easily apply to the results of the acid bath.
(And fuck those tacky laser things. My "The Batman" fan art will always feature actual firearms.)
